Hybrid and standard products now available in custom configurations

Taipei, Taiwan, 21 December 2010 – AproCables has announced the availability of connectors and adapters on their eCommerce website www.aprocables.com. A comprehensive range of fiber optic adapters and connectors, known for their reliable performance, are now available for online order, with worldwide shipping available.

These products include a variety of optical fiber connector kits in lots of 100 pieces for FC, LC, SC, and ST connectors available in APC, MM, SM in .9mm, 2mm, and 3mm respectively. AproCables connectors are compliant with Telcordia, TIA/IEA, IEC and JIS interface specifications. They have one-piece construction and puff-proof design, precision anti-rotation key and corrosion resistant body, and free-floating ceramic or stainless steel ferrule. They also have low insertion loss and low back reflection. Read more...

Understanding ST adapters

Fiber optic adapters are used for linking two connectors and are essential for fiber optic assemblies. There are many types of adapters such as FC, LC, SC, ST, MTRJ, MU, MPO and hybrid adapters. ST adapters are inline and are connected to fiber optic connectors at both ends to ensure the correct alignment of the ferrules of the connectors.

ST adapters have a compact design, high precision alignment, low insertion and return loss and back reflection. They are usually available in metal or plastic housings with phosphor bronze or zirconia split sleeves. ST fiber optic adapters are used in applications such as premise installations, medical and sensor applications, telecom networks, test equipment, CATV, local area networks (LANs), datacomm networks and instrumentation. ST adapters are available in both singlemode and multimode.

Understanding LC adapters

Fiber optic adapters, also called mating sleeves, are used in fiber optic connections to link connectors of the same type. LC, FC, SC and ST are the main types of adapters available. LC adapters belong to the class of small form factor fiber optic adapters used in modern fiber optic networks. Developed by Lucent technologies, they connect LC fiber optic components.  Read more...

Understanding MU connectors

MU or Miniature Unit connectors, also called mini SC, are small sized SC connectors with 1.25mm ferrules. Developed by Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation, MU connectors have the smallest single ferrule. These new generation fiber connectors are suitable for dense installations due to their small form factor. Read more...

Understanding ST connectors

Developed in the 1980s by AT&T, ST connectors belong to the older generation
connectors that have a metallic body, but are still commonly used in multimode

networks such as LANs for buildings and campuses. ST stands for straight tip
and consists of a plug and socket held in place with a half-twist bayonet lock.

Understanding MT-RJ connectors

Fiber optic devices are in great demand, especially ones that can fit into tight places and support dense packing of connectors. This has given rise to the development of small form factor fiber connectors such as LC, MU, VF-45 and MT-RJ connectors.

MT-RJ stands for Mechanical Transfer Registered Jack and is one of most popular small form-factor fiber optic connectors.
